WHAT IS A SOROPTIMIST?
image of womenThe name Soroptimist, means "best for women," and that's what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best working to help other women to be their best. A Soroptimist is a person working in a profession or business or recently retired from or temporarily or permanently out of work from a profession or business. Members of Soroptimist International of Greater Davis include women of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups.

SOROPTIMIST BENEFITS
Soroptimist membership provides a variety of benefits, including:

  • Service opportunities in the community, region, country and world leading to personal satisfaction and recognition from the community.
  • Friendships locally and world-wide: Cultivating relationships with other women who have similar interests and values is a central aspect of Soroptimist membership.

SOROPTIMIST PROGRAMS

Soroptimist International of Greater Davis supports programs locally, nationally and globally. Our approach to service is threefold:

  • Awareness: increasing knowledge through programs and seminars at clubs, conferences and conventions.
  • Advocacy: making Soroptimist positions on issues known to councils, legislative bodies, commissions or others considering measures in our areas of interest.
  • Action: undertaking projects that will lead to improved conditions.
